International Lute festival 2013, Utrecht

Dutch Lute Society and Early Music Festival Utrecht

the International Lute Festival and Symposium will take place in August 2013 -August 30th until September 1st-as part of the Early Music Festival in Utrecht.

The festival will include concerts organized by the Early Music Festival Utrecht, master classes, speed lessons for people  that would like to try a lute and a concert for children (and their parents). There will also be presentations of the new Vallet facsimile, a (popular) book about the lute in the Golden Age, with which we hope to reach a wider public. We also hope to present  the collected works of Joachim van den Hove edited by Jan Burgers. The Catharijneconvent  museum in Utrecht will  organize an exhibition of Early Music prints, including Vallet.

Lute makers and publishers are invited for the general three-day Early Music sales exhibition during the  festival. The Lute Societies will have room to present themselves and their publications etc.  free or charge, for one day. We will invite a lute maker to show the public how a lute is made.

The program will be published on this site as soon as possible
